Before I start my bag lady rant, let me state for the record that I had NO CLUE the Beatles song said “Goo Goo G’Joob.” Since the dawn of time, I thought it was “Cuckoo Ka-choo.” I’m sure everyone older than me is snickering because they knew that already and everyone younger than me doesn’t even know what the hell I’m talking about. I’m just crushed that it’s not Cuckoo though. For realz.
The diaper bag. My purse. Big Roo’s backpack for daycare. Little Roo’s bag for daycare. The breast pump bag. My work laptop bag. Daddy Roo’s laptop bag. Reusable shopping bags.
That list would have been what Bubba rattled off to Forrest Gump if he were a mama instead of a shrimper.
It’s like I’m a hoarder. But I’m not.
I’m just a mama with two kids under 4.
Bags are taking over my entire downstairs floor. I’m running out of places to put the darn things. One sits precariously on a bar stool, others are scattered on extra chairs at the kitchen table. The backpack gets stuffed in the hall closet. And the rest get perpetually dumped to the left of the door of our first floor master bedroom.
THEY ARE TAKING OVER MY HOUSE and I don’t know what to do about it. I just know that one day I’m going to reach into my “purse” to pay for a gallon of milk and I’ll pull out a breast pump part instead of a wallet.
Goo Goo G’Joob.
And here I always thought that was a Styx song. Maybe we both learned something. Maybe the Erykah Badu song would work best for you. “One day all them bags gone get in your way, so pack light.” Well, in time you’ll be able to.
What about a stylish little rack by the door to your garage? I’ve been looking into them recently for our fam…we have no kids yet but our bags are still out of control! 🙂
.-= Christy Knutson´s last blog ..you mean this doesn’t have to be refrigerated? =-.
Oh come on, Christy– then I couldn’t complain about it any longer. LOL. No seriously, that’s probably a stellar idea!
Litteraly Lauhging Out Lol!
Ok one…I thought it was Cuckoo Ka-choo” too so there’s at least two of us in this world that think the same thing! Had no idea it was “Goo Goo G’Joob.” Doesn’t matter, I’ll sing it the same way I have been!
And um…GL on the purse/diaperbag/computer bag, etc…thing. That’s GOT to be confusing, but HYSTERICAL!
.-= Maria @Two Cups of Kids´s last blog ..100’s across the board =-.
The word on the street is that EVERYONE thinks it’s Cuckoo Ka-Choo as well! I went to a lyrics website and thought “nah- it can’t be!” Then after about 5 of those sites I conceded that I was wrong. haha
That is hilarious 😉 My girls are (almost) 2, 5, and 9 and I totally feel ya on the bag thing. I have just recently started just carrying one bag for everything (and I’d like to downsize that one 😉
Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day SITSta…I’m loving your header here, it’s sooooo sweet! We are very adventurous/outdoorsy peeps too. We love to camp, hike, etc…so I’m gonna have to stay for a while here 😉
Your boys are adorable…love how they were born on the same day (what did big Roo think of that?)
Chat soon,
Jamie 🙂

He didn’t quite get it I don’t think. Luckily his b-day party was the Sunday before so I think he considered THAT his b-day. We’ll see what happens next year though when he turns 4!!
Wow did you ever enlighten me today, cuckoo ka choo was sooo much cooler than the actual wording, that’s probably why they just let everyone keep on singing it that way all these years 🙂
I feel you on the Bag issue as well and laughed while reading as I sheepishly looked around and found my bags in almost all the same places in my house as yours 🙂 So hard to keep track of everything although I must admit I gave up on the diaper bag awhile ago and just carry everything in my purse now. It works out well till I spill half the contents of milk bottle all over all my gadgets and papers … uggh 🙁

Haha- yes, these bags seem to end up in the same places no matter how hard I try. And I may still sing it the WRONG way– sounds better than saying GOO. haha
Is it really Goo Goo G’Joob?!? OK, here I thought I was a HUGE Beatles fan, and I don’t even know their proper lyrics. I’ve been singing Cuckoo Ka Choo for, well, a really long time! Too funny.
As for the bag hoarding problem…I feel you! Although, my problem is with shoes, not bags. =)
Thanks for stopping by my blog on my SITS potluck day! I’m a first-time visitor to your blog and already a fan. Love it.

I need to listen to the song again now that I know it’s Goo Goo G’Joob. What the heck does that mean anyway!?
Love bags. I cannot have enough of them. And now my older daughters are the same way. We need extra space for them!
I love your blog. I came over via theblogfrog — and I’ll be back.
Rachel
yes, the bags need a room of their own. Or a BIG closet at the very least!
I just started following your blog that I found on blogfrog and the bag post got me hooked!!! I was laughing so hard and my sister thought I was going crazy! LOL I have the same issue with bags, well I never really thought it was a probably but my husband has informed me I need to chill out a little with the bags 🙂
.-= Daphne´s last blog ..Yea!! A surprise for Jacob! =-.
That’s too funny! Yes, the mound of bags in so insane. I feel like a sherpa carrying all the crap around!
