I hear this story often from my brother-in-laws. When Daddy Roo got sent to his room as a kid, it wasn’t too bad. See, he was the lucky brother with the LEGOs in his closet. He’d come out of “time out” with a new ship or a skyscraper while his brothers came out from their rooms empty-handed (and a little ticked off I’m sure).
He’s now an architectural designer. Maybe those time-outs weren’t a bad thing after all.
Our kids love playing with LEGOs too. Big Roo is just getting into “big kid” LEGOs while Little Roo is all about the DUPLOS.
We were all pretty stoked to see that the LEGO KidsFest is coming to Raleigh later this week. From October 7-9 at the Raleigh Convention Center, kids can build, play and do just about everything with LEGOs (but eat them).
While there’s a TON of activities and things to do at LEGO Kidsfest, I think we each have a part we’ll be most excited about:
- Daddy Roo: the LEGO Model Gallery, which has 40 life-sized models made entirely from LEGO bricks
- Me: the Mystery Mural sounds intriguing, where you help build a piece of a giant mural to help reveal the image
- Big Roo: no question he’ll be stoked to do the Race Ramps, where you build cars and race them down a ramp
- Little Roo: I’m sure he’ll love the DUPLO area, since those bricks are bigger for his itty bitty toddler hands
If you’d like to join me there, tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for children. You can buy the tickets and find more info about the Kidsfest at the official LEGO Kidsfest website.
Disclaimer: I was given free tickets to attend the event. We’re headed there on Sunday and I can’t wait!
