Oh hooray hooray HOORAY! Are you guys so excited to finally be done with Week in My Life? It’s wonderful yet definitely exhausting! Here’s my final #weekinmylife post! Remember to link up. Linky closes at midnight on Monday so I can draw a winner of the slick camera bag.
While Saturday was most definitely NOT normal, today was more like a typical weekend. On Sundays, we catch up with groceries, go to church (well, mostly), run errands and lounge around. We sometimes get a hike in (like last weekend when we skipped church to hike- hehe) but not today.
After some morning tv time (and me getting to “sleep in” til 7:30, the kids colored for a while. And OMG they actually sat still!
Big Roo came to the bathroom while I was showering all proud and excited to show me what he colored for me. He’s been pretty indifferent to coloring until recently so I’m glad things are turning around.
We decided to actually go to Sunday School today, which meant 9:45 instead of 11. Daddy Roo and I took a class about family prayer and got some cute ideas for praying with the kids. This was week 1 of 6. I didn’t grow up in church (we went off and on but mostly off) so I’m happy that Big Roo can grow up going to Sunday School. Here’s us driving and then walking in the parking lot. Exciting stuff, right?
I hit Kohl’s, then the mall and then Target.
Big Roo is 4.5 years old so right on the cusp of little kid and bigger kid clothes. I bought him some Tony Hawk socks which was the first thing I’ve ever bought him from the “big kid side.” When I explained who Tony Hawk was he simply said, “Huhhh?”
Oh and since Little Roo wasn’t tugging at my drink, I got a hot Pumpkin Spice Latte!
Oh and I picked up this. Big Roo wants to be Mario this year (what a flashback since I picture my sisters and I playing on the original Nintendo). Little Roo is going to be Toad. LOL.
We decided to make a family trip to Trader Joes like we typically do. The last few times were near disasters because Little Roo squirms out of the buckles but we didn’t have much to buy this go around.
TJ’s is our favorite grocery store. Most things are reasonably priced. And since we limit the foods we buy with artificial flavor/color and high-fructose corn syrup, they have a GREAT selection of things. Plus their bananas are cheap!
The kids LOVE sampling food when we’re there. Today was a lasagna, which Little Roo ate up. He still had remnants of the Halloween Joe Joes on his mouth (the first sample we got).
Big Roo gets upset when there isn’t a little cart so thank goodness they had some. He carried the yogurts, Joe Joes and carrots in his.
Fast forward to bedtime. Big Roo gets three books and here’s what he picked out. For some reason, he’s been wanting to read the potty book lately… even though he’s been utterly and completely potty trained for at least 1.5 years! Whatever you want, kid.
Big Roo asks LOTS of questions while we read books. Don’t believe me? Here are SOME of the things he asked me tonight about the Cars and Pigeon books (and randomly about dinosaurs):
Why is this guy faster than this guy and this guy and this guy?
What’s that say and that?
Francesco is faster than McQueen. Why did he win? Maybe he had a screeching halt?
Who’s gonna win? You guess I’m not gonna tell you.
But why is he faster than her is faster than him. [yeah that doesn’t make much sense]. Maybe he can go past her and bam Francesco.
I don’t have these guys. I want him first then her next and get third and then The King after Christmas… How about in three days?
PIEGEON WANTS A PUPPY BOOK
On this page they should do a puppy right here.
A puppy can’t play tennis.
[On the page that says aaaaaaarrrrrgghhhhhh] Why does it have a lot of a’s. How did they draw it?
RANDOM DINOSAUR CHATS
Is a T-Rex bigger than us? Does a T-Rex have bigger teeth than we do? Is his head bigger than our head? Is his head bigger than our whole body. Is his head bigger than our whole house?
[Me] Yes. (okay, that’s doubtful.)
Huhhh? Our house is pretty big.
After the interrogation, he snuggled with his lovey, Burt. Then he asked me to take a picture with Burt close to the camera.
Upon special request, I pretended Big Roo was a pillow… then when he breathes I say “Why is this pillow moving? I need to fluff it up!” and tickle him. He just LOVES when I do this but it usually ends with him getting mad that I won’t do it for the 100th time.
Finally, on the LAST few shots of the ENTIRE week, I happened to notice the little Fn button on my Nikon. You know what the &%@# that is? It’s the damn shortcut to the self-timer. Just push it then push the shutter and BAM- self-timer. I’ve been doing it the long way through the menu all week. Le sigh.
And you we have it… we’re DONE with Week in My Life! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY DANCE!
