And that means letting them get messy.
Before I became a mom, I had no idea that the sight of my son smashing together two colors of Play Doh would make me cringe. Or that digging in sand would make me flash forward to all that sand being tracked into the house (and stuck between little hands). I KNOW I shouldn’t worry about the “mess factor” of it all but sometimes I just do. Which is strange because if you saw the disarray of my house right now, you’d know I’m NOT a neat freak.
I’ve learned to let go some (case in point: the spaghetti night that ended with bread face-stuffing). But that doesn’t mean it’s always easy.
And while summer’s over and the weather is getting cooler, we did have a little fun.
It all started innocently enough by turning on the water hose to water the flowers in the front yard.
But then the Roos decided that getting wet would make things better. (I just love seeing these two brothers play.)
They capture two little boys running in the grass (and the mulch), getting drenched and having a blast.
And what you don’t see is a mama behind the camera… not thinking about bath time or messes but just enjoying the moment.
