When Big Roo was a baby, I remember going into REI excited about buying him some cute outdoor clothes. I mean Gap and Gymboree clothes are cute enough, but I was dying for clothes from my favorite outdoor brands too.
Unfortunately, outdoorsy clothes for the wee ones – infants and toddlers- are nearly non-existent. Even now with Big Roo three years old, it’s hard. We went to find him some stuff the other day and could hardly find a thing in 3T.
So imagine how excited I was to find out about The North Face‘s new product line. Here’s a taste:
Eeeeeee! Aren’t these cute? While I wondered if they may be too warm for those of us in the South, if last (freezing, snowy) winter is any indication of this year’s winter, then we definitely need this. For the little-bit-older crew, they’ve also got cozy REVERSIBLE jackets:
The coolest part about their new line is that they didn’t just shrink down their big boy and girl clothes. Instead, the clothes grow along with your tot.
The North Face EZ Grow technology, found throughout the entire Youth Collection, allows parents to extend the length and life of the company’s snow pants. Turned inside-out, a red seam may be removed, extending the cuffs two inches. Kid friendly zippers, designed for little fingers and kids on the go, make bundling up easy, thanks to a unique design that allows the zipper to be inserted vertically, as usual, or at an angle or rotated position.
“Kids are the future of the outdoors, and it is essential that we provide them the product and opportunity to embrace the outdoors,” said Aaron Carpenter, Vice President of Marketing for The North Face. “The North Face is dedicated to fueling passion for the outdoors and encouraging appreciation of outdoor activities among individuals of all ages and abilities, especially youth.”
Whew, I’m glad they’re on the same page as we are about getting our children outside. I can’t wait to see the rest of the product line.
And I hope to see more outdoor brands designing clothes for the smallest of outdoor adventurers.
